I've had a hard time being able to keep things together last week. PMS and corn flakes. Being an angry slash insecure gal, stressing over Kenji's condition (but not as much as dichee of course), dealing with the night shift, and flu and ear infection and trying to be a good friend. It's depressing altogether. And God only gave me the answers today. After a tearful prayer about patience and holding on and asking Him to just make me okay and un-questioning and grateful.
His answers are simple.
- That an angel told the prophet Elijah to do a very ordinary thing- get up and eat.
-If we were never depressed, we would not be alive— only material things don’t suffer depression. If human beings were not capable of depression, we would have no capacity for happiness and exaltation.
-When the Spirit of God comes to us, He does not give us glorious visions, but He tells us to do the most ordinary things imaginable.
-Depression tends to turn us away from the everyday things of God’s creation. But whenever God steps in, His inspiration is to do the most natural, simple things-things we would never have imagined God was in, but as we do them we find Him there.
(from Utmost for His Highest)
Reverend Chambers wrote a very practical way to beat sadness. After prayer, one would simply need to get up and move on. In this case he pointed out that amidst depression find a way to rise above it. Yes, as I repeatedly wrote- food is a blessing.
